The Cursillo movement began on the island of Majorca in the late 1940's and is now conducted in both Spanish and English. This interlude or "spiritual retreat" lasts only three days, but the teachings have only one goal: to know God through the simplest form- through prayer, study and action. Some basic "requirements" are: single or married (if married, ideally by the Church); application must be approved and signed by your priest; candidate needs a cursillista "padrino/padrina" or godfather/godmother, have received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, first communion and be at least 16 years of age. The men's cursillo is held first, and the following week the women's. The greeting is "De Colores" meaning that, after having lived a cursillo, your life has changed in a spiritual way and , also, it identifies you as a member of the group. Jesus de la Rosa 378-1056 |
